Sachiko Miki was born in Gunma, Japan, in 1974 and lives and works in Kanagawa. She received her BFA in Sculpture from Tokyo Zokei University in 1999, where she was awarded the Zokei University Award, and completed the university's Research Program in Sculpture in 2001. In addition to her artistic practice, Miki has long been involved in art education and workshops.

Taking the human figure as her point of departure, Miki explores the relationship between visible physical form and the invisible inner world. Working with wood and fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP), she transforms memory, experience, and consciousness into tangible sculptural forms. Through volume, contour, and spatial relationships, her works examine the boundaries between the self, others, and the surrounding environment. Her sculptures possess a fantastical, uncanny, and subtly humorous quality while reflecting on human psychology and the inner self.

Miki has exhibited extensively in Japan and internationally since the late 1990s. She has participated in the BIWAKO BIENNALE on multiple occasions and has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo, California, and Taipei. Selected solo exhibitions include The Visitor at Transmission Gallery, Oakland, California (2017); TWINS? at Gallery Tsubaki, Tokyo (2020); Overcoming (2022); Sowers with Seeds of Stars (2024); and Blowing in the Wind at VINS Gallery, Taipei (2025).

Miki has also participated in exhibitions at institutions including the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. Her works are held in public collections including California State University, Bakersfield; Nasunogahara Museum; Funabashi Anderson Park; and Oshima Town Office.
