+ OVERVIEW
Among the hundreds of styles of rocks recorded in the Song Dynasty, Lingbi rocks were the most beloved. Song poet Fang Yan described the rock as a bronze coloured jade. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty ranked it above all stones. Its aura, shapes and colours fascinate its audience with its high aesthetic value. Among the variations of colours of black, white and red, black stones are the most sought-after. These ink-coloured stones were classified into 5 different tones in ancient times. Their shapes vary and match an array of imaginative forms such as mountains, beasts and famous figures, while some are unique in their shapes. This rock is unique of its kind. With a few hollow surfaces and rugged cun texture, this is deemed as a beautiful piece with its original base. With a balance of texture, colour and shape, this piece stands on its own and enlivens the studio, thus undoubtedly upholds its name as the most beautiful rock on this planet.
