+ OVERVIEW

Chicago artist Rine Boyer was born in 1982 and grew up in Buffalo, New York. After receiving her B.A. degree from Reed College, Rine Boyer moved to Chicago, where she was represented by Elephant Room Gallery and had a studio at the Zhou B Art Center. She is known for depicting figures with simple outlines and applying repetitive patterns to portray the personality of individuals. With iconic shapes and vibrant colors, she links the daily figures to the underlying themes of culture, personal traits, and group dynamics, which has become her unique and notable style of art. Rine's work received an honorable mention at the Rockford Midwestern juried exhibition held at the Rockford Art Museum. Rine has experience in hosting several solo exhibitions in the Elephant Room Gallery, other galleries, and schools in Chicago. She has been invited to hold three solo exhibitions in Taiwan in 2014, 2015, and 2017. Furthermore, she also participated in the 2014 Young Art Taipei Art Fair and Art Tainan Art Fair.

Through simple lines supplemented by personalized designs, Rine Boyer records the lively character and stories of the people surrounding her. The series of “Teaching” is created based on the topic “Between”, which is her first time focusing on the idea of relationships. Through the interactions between family members, couples, and pets and owners, Boyer illustrates the emotional entanglements. Rine Boyer not only portrays the comfortable and warm atmosphere but also paints the most sincere moments in daily life.
