I Kadek Agus Ardika was born in Sukawati, Bali, Indonesia, in 1984. He graduated from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta, in 2007. During his studies, he received the Best Sketch award at the institution. In 2005, he was selected among the Top 10 nominees for the Pratisara Affandi Adi Karya, followed by a Top 20 nomination for the Tujuh Bintang Art Award in 2009.

Ardika’s practice is grounded in Balinese culture, beliefs, customs, and traditions. Through his exploration of symbols, materials, and artistic language, he reconsiders the relationship between cultural identity and artistic creation. As a Balinese artist, he consciously moves beyond established cultural symbols and imagery in search of a more essential understanding of cultural identity. His practice approaches art as a means of philosophical reflection, self-exploration, and lived experience. Recent works also engage with notions of limitation, damage, and disorder, transforming them through tearing, restructuring, and repetition into new visual and aesthetic possibilities.

Selected exhibitions include Pra-Bali Biennale Exhibition at Tama Gallery, Ubud, Bali (2005); I+ at Canna Gallery and Shadows of Prambanan at Jogja Gallery, Yogyakarta (2007); Animal Kingdom: The Last Chronic at Jogja Gallery, Yogyakarta (2008); Biennale Jogja X: Jogja Jamming and The Dream at Jogja National Museum, Yogyakarta (2009); Bali Making Choice at the National Gallery of Indonesia, Jakarta (2011); and Ambang Embang at ARMA Museum, Ubud, Bali (2019).

Ardika’s works have been exhibited in Indonesia and internationally and are held in private collections.
