Jan Kaláb 楊.克拉
Czech 1978
Jan Kaláb was born in Czechoslovakia in 1978, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, and currently resides and creates in Prague. As a pioneer of Czech graffiti, he has been walking the path of a non-traditional artist for the past 30 years. Transitioning from street graffiti to pure white spaces, Kaláb starts with dots and develops them into transformations of circles and 3D sculptures, condensing the wild creativity of the outdoors onto geometrically transformed canvases. Each line reaching its limit, the edges slowly overflowing with color, blurs and merges the sight, giving his works a flowing sense of energy. His pieces are collected by the National Museums of Czech Republic and Slovakia, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Brazil, the Deka Art Museum in China, and the Ushan Art Museum in South Korea.
