Crystal Lupa was born in California, USA, in 1989. She received her BA in Womenswear from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, in 2012 and is currently based in Taipei. During her time in London, she interned at the studios of Belle Sauvage, Christopher Kane, and Alexander McQueen.

Lupa’s practice spans a range of media, including oil painting, ink, ceramic sculpture, weaving, dyeing, and printmaking. Drawing inspiration from everyday scribbling, travel, and dream journals, she has gradually developed a distinctive totemic language and narrative structure. Her works often construct symbolic, surreal spaces in which lived experiences and dreams are transformed into scenes. Through primal and sensuous contours, she explores archetypal figures, psychological states, and inner landscapes.

Selected solo exhibitions include The Blaze of Flowers at MOCA Cube, Taipei (2020); Habitat of Illusion at Lightwell, Taipei (2020); The Unspoken Tales at Hiro Hiro Art Space, Taipei (2022); EXOTICA at Asia Art Center, Taipei (2024); and Phosphene Reverie at Glass Rice, San Francisco (2025). Selected group exhibitions and art fairs include Transgression throughout the Volatile World at Asia Art Center, Taipei (2021); ART TAIPEI (2023); the two-person exhibition Bloom in Mindflow in Kaohsiung (2023); and The Grand Exhibition of New Taipei City Artists at Yingge Ceramics Museum, New Taipei City (2024). In recent years, she has continued to participate in exhibitions and art fairs across the United States, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Europe.

Lupa’s works have been exhibited in Taiwan, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Europe.
