Lin Yen-Liang 林彥良
Taiwanese 1987
Lin Yen-Liang aka BaNAna was born in 1987 in Taichung, Taiwan. He graduated from the Department of Landscape Architecture at Tunghai University and the Institute of Creative Design for Everyday Life at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology. "A-Jiao" is a cute character he designed, with a yellow banana peel on its head. The character's expressions are lively, and its appearance is versatile, sometimes playful and sometimes melancholic. The chocolate-like spots on the banana peel seem to suggest that this boyish figure actually has a sensitive and precocious heart, just like the artist himself. His style, characterized by a mixture of reality and fantasy in composition, is influenced by his habit of frequent dreaming, which often provides him with creative inspiration and reflections on life. He was deeply influenced by Japanese culture from the 1990s and was inspired by a famous quote from the Walt Disney movie "Up": "Everybody in the world was once a child." Lin likes to showcase the happiest, purest, and least tainted aspects of childhood in his works, allowing viewers to take a moment to relax and return to the beautiful moments of their own childhood. This artist has held solo exhibitions in Taiwan and China, among other places.
